Aftercare & Post Procedure Information

So you’ve got this beautiful new brow tattoo!! Now what?!

Please read over our aftercare advice thoroughly. It is imperative that your aftercare is taken seriously, we give our all to give you the best results possible, however once you’ve left the studio it is out of our hands and your responsibility to take care of your fresh tattoo remembering that it is an open wound.

After leaving the studio for the next 2 hours, use a clean tissue to dab your brows every 10 - 15 minutes. This will prevent any excess lymphatic fluid building up on the brows. (Similar to the fluid you would see if you popped a blemish) You may get a bit of fluid, you may not, either way this is normal, however if we can prevent build up this will ensure less scabbing throughout the healing process.

2 hours after your appointment wipe over the brows with a slightly damp cotton round. This is the only time throughout the next 10 days the brows are to get wet.

For the next 10 days

An aftercare cream will be provided to be applied 2 - 3 times per day, using a cotton tip. Only enough to keep the skin hydrated is needed, please do not lather or suffocate the skin as it still wants to be able to breathe underneath the cream. If unsure, less is more. If you misplace the aftercare provided bepathen may be used as a substitute.

Please avoid anything that is going to get your brows hot, steamy, sweaty or WET. Avoiding pools, spa’s, sauna’s, excessive or long hot showers, ect.

You are welcome to continue to wear makeup throughout the healing process, however please be precise when applying it and taking it off to ensure it does not end up in the brow area. We recommend only using makeup wipes during this time. No products are to get on the brow area during this time including makeup, cleansers, moisturisers, fake tan, ect.

Do not pick or scratch at your new tattoo and ensure that anything that touches it is clean.

Avoid direct sunlight and any facial treatments.

Avoid any exercise for at least the first 48 hours, if you wish to exercise after this keep workouts light, being extremely mindful of keeping them sweat free and clean.

After 2 weeks to keep your brows looking fresh

Apply SPF to your brows to avoid the sun fading them prematurely.

Check your skincare to ensure if products with BHA’s, AHA’s, vitamins and retinol’s are being used they are not applied near the brow area.

Cosmetic tattoo’s are a low maintenance not a no maintenance procedure. By getting your brows cosmetically tattooed it will add pigment/depth to the skin behind the hair, however it will not change the hair itself. You will still need to carry out your regular method of hair removal. If you have requested your tattoo to be substantially darker than your brow hair or are wanting to feel even fresher before you’re due for a touch up you may also want to tint your brows every now and then.

If you wear a lot of makeup you may also find that you want to fill them in a tiny bit here and there. Your foundation might accidentally cover them or they may not be bold enough with a full face. Your brow tattoo needs to suit you with no makeup on as well and filling them in is soooo much quicker when you have the tattoo to follow.

Touch ups are recommended anywhere from 9 - 18 months after your last appointment, if there is not enough pigment left in the skin for your touch up you will be considered a new tattoo and standard rates will apply.

What to expect during the healing process

It is normal for the treated area to feel slightly tender (like a bruise) and tight after your procedure but it shouldn’t necessarily hurt. Any redness or slight swelling will go down within 24 - 48 hours.

If you have a headache after your procedure you are welcome to take panodol, but avoid nurofen/ibuprofen.

Trust the process!

The sharpness and colour of your tattoo will be darker than it will heal day 1 of the procedure and even darker and more exaggerated day 2 and 3. It will heal roughly 20 - 50% lighter than this.

After this the tattoo will lighten and soften. It is normal throughout the process to feel like the pigment is gone, and for it to look patchy, uneven or have scabbing/flaking present.

The pigment will reappear 3 - 4 weeks after your initial appointment.

Please remember that this is a 2 step process and the reason we have our perfecting sessions. During the healing process you may experience slight patchiness, unevenness or areas of the tattoo that drop out. You may like to go darker in colour or depth, or make slight adjustments to the shaping.

Please see our terms and conditions for our complimentary touch ups.
