Is Cosmetic Tattooing suitable for me?
We have put together this section to help you determine if cosmetic tattooing is suitable for you. We care about your safety and want the absolute best results possible for you and your new tattoo. We like to keep our clients informed and aware of any factors that might affect or compromise the results they are left with once healed.
To avoid disappointment on the day it is imperative that you read through our client eligibility to ensure we are able to go ahead with your service. It is our duty of care and we reserve the right to turn away any clients that are not a suitable candidate for this procedure, resulting in loss of your non refundable deposit. If you are unsure of your suitability please contact us or arrange a complimentary consultation.
Under no circumstances can we tattoo those who are:
under the age of 18.
pregnant or breastfeeding.
under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Skin Conditions
Skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, dermatitis, keratosis pilaris and eczema near the treatment area will mean your treatment will need to be postponed as they cannot be tattooed over.
If you are sunburnt we will need to postpone your procedure and wait until it has healed.
Moles or bumps in or near the treatment area also cannot be tattooed over. Please keep this in mind when booking as we will need to avoid them in our design. If you are unsure we will be able to work around this please email in photo and we will advise what your options are.
Those prone to keloid scarring are not suitable for this treatment.
Oily skin, large pores, acne prone skin, mature skin, rosacea and fitzpatrick skin type 1, can effect how your tattoo heals. These are more suitable and will see best results using the ombre technique.
Previous Tattooing
Any previous tattooing may highly compromise the shape and results we are able to obtain. Any clients with previous tattooing MUST send in clear photos in good lighting to be approved. Whether we are able to take on clients with previous tattooing is subject to each individual circumstance and a lot of things go into consideration including placement, symmetry, colour and skin integrity. Unfortunately a lot of the time we will need the tattoo to be at least 80% faded to conceal or correct and will recommend waiting for further fading or removal. We do this as we want what is going to get you the best results possible as this is a tattoo on your face. Unfortunately there is sometimes only so much we can do while working with previous tattooing and cannot always guarantee results.
Medications, Skin Care and Medical Conditions
Medications such as Roaccutane or Retin-A will need to be discontinued for a year prior to your tattooing.
Retinol and Vitamin A users will need to discontinue use 1 month prior.
Autoimmune disorders compromise the health of our skin and unfortunately do not make you an ideal candidate for this treatment.
If you are diabetic and blood sugar levels are not under control, healing may be prolonged and there is a higher risk of infection.
If you have any extensive medical history, HIV/AIDS hemophilia, a heart condition, clotting disorders, high blood pressure or are on any blood thinning medications or chemotherapy medications your results and healing may be compromised. If you have any of these conditions please advise before booking as we will ask for a written clearance from your doctor.
If you have had surgery within the last 3 months please notify us prior to your appointment. Cosmetic tattooing can affect your immune system and may put you at risk of infection/ health complications and/or prolong your recovery time.
